HOW DO I ORGANIZE AN AMAZING AND AFFORDABLE YARD PARTY? RENT A FOODTRUCK.

Posted on 12/16/2020 by FTB

Late summer is still a great time for a (back)yard party. Whether it is your birthday, you just had a baby, you graduated, are celebrating your anniversary, are retiring, or if you simply want to have a party for your friends or family. And if you happen to have a nice yard, you already have all the ingredients for a great party that you need. We have listed some good pointers for you, to help you organize a party in the comfort of your own home!…

  • 1. Still putting some effort in

This may be most of the work, but we promise you that the following pointers will take little of your time and will bring you loads of fun. Of course make sure that your yard looks fairly neat. It doesn’t have to be an award-winning garden, but make sure that at least the patio is clean and that most of the weeds have been removed. Then, make sure you have a party tent available, to be prepared for a potential (tropical:-)) rain shower. Usually one of your friends or neighbors has a tent you can borrow, just like a few standing tables. Do you happen to know the app Peerby? This app allows you to ask around in your neighborhood if you could perhaps borrow or rent something from your neighbors. Should you borrow something from your next-door neighbors, make sure to invite them for drinks at the beginning of the night. If you rather don’t want them to come over, surprise them with some good food during your party.

  • 2. Sun down, light the candles…

In a yard, a festive ambiance is luckily easily created. Put up some lanterns and drape some Christmas lights around a tree or over a bush. And perhaps you already have big lanterns you can put outside with candles? Buying nice ‘jars’ and adding tea lights to them could be a nice alternative. If you really want to get creative and keep the costs low, collect jars upfront, clean them and fill them with candles. You can always ask your guests to bring a clean jar too, to decorate your yard quickly with help from all your guests. You can also turn it into a competition, where the guests who brings the most jars wins a price…. Get for example an extra bag of tea lights and gift wrap it! You will see that this creates additional atmosphere and it hardly costs you anything!

  • 3. Rent a Food truck for your yard party!

The guests linger and it slowly starts to cool down. If you have enough fleece blankets, guests can stay outside for hours. With an outdoor party, enough (garden) pillows and cushions come in handy and give extra comfort. To keep everyone warm and create extra atmosphere, a fire pit is always a good idea.4. You know your party is a hit when… .5. A good neighbor is better than… .. A nice outdoor party is always fun. But be considerate of your neighbors, announce your party about a week in advance, add your phone number if they have questions or if they experience nuisance during your party. And if you really want to make a good impression? Invite them. Most probably will they only show up for a short while or not at all, but your neighbors will be way more forgiving that way, which helps the party becoming the success you want it to be.
