FoodLovers take note: Different eating habits from around the world

Posted on 03/26/2022 by FTB

When a food lover travels, exploring cities, monuments and nature is probably not the main priority. Think about all the food specifically associated with a particular city or country! There is plenty to discover on the inside of a local restaurant. Had you already made a food bucket list? You might find it helpful to take these eating habits into account when you go on vacation.

  • NO HANDS PLEASE

In Chile, practically everything is eaten with a fork, spoon, and knife. It is normal to use a fork and knife even when the cuisine contains components that may be savored more easily with the hands, such as chicken drumsticks and wings. Food should never be eaten with one's hands, according to the locals. Brazilians, too, adhere to this politeness norm.If you're going to Mexico, though, avoid eating your tacos with a knife and fork. It is regarded as impolite and foolish. Has anyone attempted this before?

  • CLEAN OR FULL PLATE?

In India, an empty plate indicates that you have thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It also demonstrates that you respect your host by mentioning how delicious the dinner was. In China, however, it is thought that your host did not provide you with enough food.

  • DON'T BE EARLY

In most parts of Europe, it is polite to be right on time. However, punctuality will get you nowhere in Tanzania; in fact, arriving on time for dinner is considered disrespectful. You must arrive 15-30 minutes late to be considered a respectable visitor.

  • HARD TIME FOR LEFTIES...

Are you planning a trip to India, the Middle East, or parts of Africa? If so, while you're there, make sure you don't eat with your left hand. This is due to the fact that people in the area link the left hand with "unclean" tasks like washing, bathing, and using the lavatory. As a result, reaching for food or eating with your left hand may appear impolite and unsanitary.

  • DON'T BE CHEESY

The Italians are known for their passion for food and for cheeses such as parmesan and mozzarella. While you're there, however, don't try to combine cheese and fish. Why? In Italy, it is regarded as a gastronomic disaster. Furthermore, you should only ask for extra cheese if it is supplied to you. Your pizza's cheesy goodness will have to suffice.
