Posted on 01/03/2022 by Redactie

In times of uncertainty, when the world stops and we are all at home, there are still many ways to pass the time (and learn in the process!). For example, we can watch the best series on Netflix about cooking to inspire us to create new delicious dishes, also in our Food Trucks.

  • Street Food

Street Food is a new project from the creators of Chef's Table. In this series, food lovers and other enthusiasts get a different view of the food industry. Instead of focusing on the world's best restaurants, Street Food looks at the food and drink sold on the street. From street markets to small roadside stands, gastronomy encompasses the refined and the humble. There are dishes that are universally owned and this series explores the culinary greatness found in every day and in simplicity. Since each of the nine episodes in the first season takes place in a different Asian country, you'll find that you'll learn a lot about this street phenomenon.

  • The Chef Show

The beginning of The Chef Show dates back to 2014 when Jon Favreau met Roy Choi while filming his movie Chef. Out of this encounter was born a genuine friendship cemented on a shared love of food. In The Chef Show, Favreau and Choi explore the fun of cooking with and for friends. From celebrity chefs (Aaron Franklin) to movie celebrities (Bill Burr), the duo Favreau and Choi eat and learn about how sharing a tablecloth brings people together.

  • The Taco Chronicles

Never underestimate the power of Vitamin T. The Taco Chronicles is a Mexican series that focuses on the origins of the most significant tacos in Mexican culinary culture. Over the course of six fascinating episodes, the docu-series explores the anthropological origins of the taco and unmasks small popular gems where they are served at their most exquisite. What's the problem? The series makes you hungry, and tacos outside of Mexico are not so easy to find.

  • Cooked

With the famous writer Michael Pollan we embark on a journey into the interhuman dimension of cooking and how the treatment of food must be at the center of our conception of a healthy life. Michael Pollan is also an avowed environmentalist and always advocates the possibility of better managing our natural resources, including culinary ones. Pollan will teach you the importance of eating healthy to be happy and how the kitchen contains ancient wisdom.

  • Rotten

This second season of Rotten explores the polluting side of food production. While the first season explored foods such as garlic, honey, milk, and more, the second season covers a new range of topics, including avocado and sugar production. We discover that behind our food are long assembly lines that often carry human costs that are hard to calculate. This series will not always infuse you with optimism, but it is important to understand that not everything you eat is guilt-free.
