What is on your Food Truck Menu?

Traditional food trucks usually serve sandwiches, tacos, burgers, pizza, and other standard snacks for lunch. Nowadays, we see much more diversification, such as vegetarian, organic, and vegan dishes, but also – perhaps less healthy – barbecue ribs and pulled pork. You can put any dish you want on your menu, but how do you choose what is best for your Food Truck menu? Putting your menu together is fun, but there are many factors to consider. In this blog, we discuss some tips and tricks for putting your Food Truck menu together!

    We made a list of questions you could ask yourself before you decide what to put on your menu:

    • What can I prepare well?
    • Which dishes are popular or what distinguishes you?
    • Which ingredients are easily available at the wholesaler, or in your area?
    • Which food is easy to transport and store well in a food truck.
    • What can you prepare and/or heat up without much effort?
    • What type of food is right for your culinary expertise or can you try creative new recipes?
    • Which dishes or snacks can you easily serve on the street?
    • Which dishes are potentially profitable?
    • Which dishes are not sold by your competitors?
    • Are you going to specialize in one or two dishes or do you choose a more extensive menu, then realize that you also have to have everything in stock.

    • Test your dishes by serving them to family and friends.
    • Don't be afraid of criticism, better at home than paying customers;
    • Once you've found a few favorites, make sure you master the recipes.
    • Write them down for future reference.
    • Next, try some variations on a theme.
    • Don't start with dishes that you haven't tested thoroughly.


    If you are going to put something on the menu, it must meet the following properties:

    • It is easy to make repeatedly in large quantities.
    • It always tastes good, you can deliver consistent quality and taste.
    • It is easy to serve.
